Happy New Year, dear readers!

I just sent out my first two author newsletters of 2023. Are you on my email list?

If not, make sure you sign up because that’s where I alert readers to sales and new releases.

Speaking of new releases… I don’t have any.

Well, that’s not exactly true. I did update my Gettysburg Handbook and Insider’s Travel Guide quite extensively. If you’re planning a trip to Gettysburg, don’t leave home without it. 😀

Other than that, I’ve been traveling and writing freelance articles about different historical destinations in the U.S. on my other website Past Lane Travels. (And for those who just prefer to look at pictures of old houses and museums, I post those on Past Lane/Substack.

I’ve also been trying to help people who are planning a visit to Gettysburg by writing posts like the best time to visit Gettysburg and providing a helpful guide for taking a Gettysburg horseback tour. (One of my favorite ways to see the battlefield)!

Update On Home Life

Since it’s been quite a long time since I posted anything, you may not know that I have a new rescue dog, Sophie. (Sometimes known as “devil dog.”)

I sent this photo to my newsletter subscribers of her first Christmas, so thought I’d post it here too.

German shepherd dog holds toy in her mouth with pieces of paper lying around her.

There is nothing sweeter than watching a dog who has obviously never played with a toy before, get to rip open the wrapping. (She LOVES tearing up paper so she really loves Christmas now).

She traveled from a shelter in Georgia (along with a few hundred other lucky dogs), to a drop-off point in New Jersey, where she was picked up and taken to Rylie’s Rescue in Pennsylvania. Then I drove almost two hours to pick her up and bring her home. (She did all that traveling in one day)!

Looking Ahead

I’ve heard from many readers who have read the Shades of Gray Trilogy and are looking for more!

For those who are waiting for a new book, please be patient. I have one about halfway completed and a few more in the “mulling over” stages, so once I settle down and start writing, it shouldn’t take long.

Until then, I wanted to wish everyone a very prosperous, healthy and Happy New Year!

I will try to do better at keeping in touch! Thank you for being part of my book family!

XXOO ❤️

Jessica
