Veterans Day

We all owe a debt of gratitude to those who have served our country in the armed forces — and today we have the opportunity to honor them. In a nutshell, Veterans Day is a celebration to pay tribute to America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

From the earliest days of our new nation, men left the comfort of home to take up arms to preserve the independence our founders envisioned and declared. Coming from a military family, I’m well aware of the personal cost to the families — which is probably why most of my books focus on the military and the sacrifices they make.

I love that this day has been set aside for everyone in the country to reflect on our veterans. Celebrated for more than 100 years, Veterans Day gives us the opportunity to honor their service, be thankful for their sacrifice, and hear their stories…But I believe we should really celebrate them every day. Don’t you?

Where would we be without them? Their legacy is the freedom that we enjoy in the United States today — a gift that is coveted by people from all over the world.

So don’t forget to honor this day. Fly your American flag to show your pride, and make an effort to find a veteran and thank him for his service!

If you are feeling charitable, here is a great charity that will use your money wisely for veterans in need: Code of Vets
