May is a busy month so I’m sure it will be over in the blink of an eye. I leave for Florida on May 22 to cover the Special Operations Forces International Conference in Tampa (more on that later), and then I am volunteering for the GI Film Festival in and around Washington, D.C.

This is the 10th anniversary of the GI Film Festival (GIFFX), which showcases films by and about Service Members and Veterans. GIFFX kicks off on May 21 with a concert at the Howard Theatre featuring Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band. (You remember Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump, right?) If you are interested in attending, you can purchase tickets here.Lt-Dan-Band-Filler-Image-860x220

The film part of the festival begins Sunday, May 22 and ends Sunday, May 29. More than 75 films will be screened including:

Celebrating Women in the Military at the Naval Heritage Center (Tickets here)
International Film Night at the Canadian Embassy (Tickets here)
30th Anniversary of Top Gun screening with Val Kilmer (Tickets here)
Salute to Wounded Warriors Night with an X-Men: Apocalypse Advance Screening (Tickets here)

You can purchase tickets for individual time blocks but there are also many different types of passes available here.

I sure hope you can attend one of the many events and support the Festival. It will be fun and educational with lots of wonderful people in attendance.
