“If you only buy one book in 2009, make it this one.”
– The Book Connection
I know this is a little off topic, but it’s the end of the year, so I’ve given myself permission to stray a little bit.
Since I never wrote about the wonderful early Christmas present I received in the form of a fantastic review for Shades of Gray, I thought it might be OK to share with readers some other great news that recently came my way.
Not only did my historical fiction novel receive a rave review, but it was chosen as the Favorite Book for 2008 across all genres by The Book Connection.
Cheryl, who picked Shades of Gray as her favorite book, reads close to 100 titles per year. In her review, she says,”From the fashions, to the language, to the sense of honor and duty that fills its pages, Shades of Gray explores the War Between the States in a way that will touch you like no other work of fiction.”
Wonderful word-of-mouth testimonials like this are what propelled Shades of Gray into Amazon’s Best-Seller list in the Romance/Historical category, and what make me excited to think about what 2009 might bring.
I want to thank Cheryl and everyone who has read, reviewed, blogged, twittered or talked about Shades of Gray in 2008. Wishing you all a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year!

Thanks you for letting me know about your book. I will definitely add it to my list for the Civil War reading Challenge.
A well deserved honor that I was happy to bestow. I’ll be first in line to pick up the next Jessica James novel.
All my best,
Cheryl
